| | Military assistance helps insure our safety when living in Baja! Our men from 'Checkpoint Charlie'. At approx 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 3rd, our car ran over a large metal obstacle in the highway on the way to Mexicali blowing out both tires on the right side of the vehicle. In shock and without enough spare tires to repair ourselves, we flagged down the third car that went by. The Jeep turned around and asked if there was a problem. Lt. Col. Moran from the Army assessed our situation and took me back to the Military checkpoint 9 kilometers away. 5 of his men were given orders to insure our safety until we were out of harms way. These soldiers helped us for about 4 hours. They put one spare tire on the rear and then took me back to the military checkpoint where another tire was purchased and put on last good rim. When it was repaired we drove back to the car and they put on the new tire. We were able to drive back to San Felipe. We want to give our sincere Thanks to Lt. Col. Moran and his men who came to our aid: Roberto Noriega, Genaro Teran, Angel Manuel Santiago, Roberto Lopez Flores, Antonio Sarabis. Again our most sincere Thank You! Here are a few photos of the breakdown and the courtesy with which it was handled.. Muchas Gracias! |
